Bring & Claim keeps the practical details of a group event in one place. Choose a potluck, volunteer or supplies template, give your board a title, and change the items to fit your plans. Each item has a limited number of places. A place represents one person’s commitment: one main dish, one bag of ice, or one volunteer for a role.
Before creating your board, check the list and quantities. The first version keeps items fixed after creation, so everyone can rely on the commitments they made. The preview shows what your group will be asked to bring. Give items specific names when size or timing matters: “one bag of ice” is clearer than “ice”, and “welcome desk, 2–3 pm” is clearer than “help”.
Send one invitation link
After creation, copy the invitation link into your group chat. Guests open it, enter a first name, and take a place. No guest account is required. Names and claims are visible on the board, so avoid sharing private details. A guest can take places on different items, but only one place per item in the same browser.
Available places update as people join. If two people try to take the last place, the server accepts only one claim and asks the other person to choose another item. The board keeps the latest confirmed list rather than treating an unconfirmed click as a reservation. If the connection drops, wait for updates to resume before relying on availability.
Plans change
Guests can release their own places using the same browser. This relies on a private browser token, not their display name. Clearing browser storage or switching devices means they should ask the host to release the old claim. The host can also release a place, close signups, or delete the board using the private manage link.
Keep that manage link to yourself. Saving the board to an optional Gleekit account makes it available in My stuff and stops its inactivity expiry. Without an account, the board expires after ninety days of inactivity. Creating a board does not send invitations or reminders automatically: you choose where and with whom to share the link.
Questions people ask
- Do guests need an account?
- No. Open the invitation, add a display name and claim a place.
- Can two people claim the last place?
- No. Capacity is enforced on the server. If someone gets there first, choose another item.
- Can I change the items later?
- Items and capacities are fixed after creation. Review the preview before creating. Hosts can release claims or close signups.
- How do I cancel my claim?
- Use Release in the same browser you used to claim. If you changed browsers, ask the host to release it.
- Is my name private?
- Your display name and claims are visible on the shared board. Use a first name or nickname and avoid sensitive details. Keep the host link private.
